Of Feelings That Grew

by Jasir Zerwes

Growing leaves on trees

When I think of them, I think of us.

Feelings plenty on the vines grown through time

but turn to many as the time ticks faster.

We remind me of something I've felt before,

like a true freedom's grace

lay on my soul like a blanket.

When your arms coil me I can't help but feel serene,

and much as I try to describe it

that feeling when I smile at just the sight of your face

is a question that needs no answer to me.

So despite my curious self, I'll relax in the forest breeze.

Sitting with you as the leaves fall on our faces

and we laugh, knowing and awaiting their growth together.
